Anyone can check nothing was tampered with
The installer is open source and every file on the drive is listed. Each drive ships with published checksums (SHA-256) — short fingerprints that change if a file is altered in any way — and setup verifies them before copying anything. Nothing hidden executes when you plug it in.
Your laptop may show a warning — here's why
The installer isn't signed with Apple or Microsoft yet, so the first run shows the standard “unidentified developer” warning. That's expected for now: signing and notarization are in progress ahead of launch, and you can inspect every file before you run anything.
Nothing phones home
No account, no telemetry, no usage meter. The app talks to the model only inside your own machine (localhost), so nothing you type leaves your laptop. After setup you can turn Wi-Fi off and it keeps working.
